Living By Faith, Not By Sight

Living by faith, not by sight

"But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."

1 Timothy 6:11-12, 17-19

All Scriptures throughout my website are referenced from the NIV unless otherwise noted.

Discernment for Our Day

Discernment Development Begins with Knowing God's Word

2 Timothy 3:1-5, 8-9, 13-14, 16-17 NIV

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Now, Follow These Steps and Then Read Those Passages of Scripture Again

  • Quiet yourself. Quiet your body. Quiet your mind of clutter, chaos, and confusion. But quicken your spirit for clarity and understanding.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, to open your spiritual eyes and ears and illuminate those passages to impart His truth to you.

  • Slowly re-read the passages, methodically contemplating each word or phrase, while listening for the still small voice of the Holy Spirt.

  • The Divine Whisper speaks softly, almost imperceptibly, and usually just a few words that seem to just "pop" into your mind from out of nowhere. That's His voice speaking within you!

  • Heed His Words! Be obedient to His revealed truth and act on anything that He has quickened in your spirit to do! The more you listen, the more you will hear. The more obedient you are to His voice, the more He will tell you.

  • Close your session with prayer, thanking the Lord for His wisdom and enabling your transformation to become like Christ Jesus.
